Hello and Welcome to the Saint Mabyn Peace Memorial Hall Website

The Saint Mabyn Peace Memorial Hall was gifted over 100 years ago to the local community.  We recently celebrated the centenary by making an oral (click here) and pictorial history of the Hall and a tapestry, which was created by Saint Mabyn school children and the 'Makers Group'.  The renewed Hall is again an attractive venue providing facilities and events for the wellbeing of the community? It was conceived as a venue for those returning from the war and the local community to reestablish their "wellbeing" through celebrating, working and playing together again.

This inspired us to raise funds to renovate, restore and update the Hall.  Progress has been rapid in less than 18 months the following has been completed; a new fully equipped kitchen; a new south facing terrace with sunshade and glass surround; access from the kitchen and the hall; new public as well as hall toilets,  with disabled access;  a new store for the community shop; the adjoining car park now has easier disabled access to the Hall; all the hall's walls have been internally insulated, plasterboarded and re-plastered, the roof has been stripped, insulation added and the roof re-battened, all the slates replaced with new, solar panels have been inset in the roof to provide power to the community shop and the hall; a new meeting room has been completed with a large table and seating for up to 16 people and includes a projector, white board and tea/coffee making facilities.

As well as having secured grants from a range of providers (listed separately), the community raised considerable sums of money for the project.  With 'Buy a Brick', 'Buy a Slate', several Village Fetes, Coffee Mornings, Young Farmers Club, Haywood Cider Farm together with many individuals donating time, money or resources to the project.

Our Village Hall offers the local community and surrounding area an excellent venue for a wide range of activities, meetings and events, that include the separate snooker room to the hall, also providing opportunities to be inspirational and creative using the stage and hall.

Having the meeting room allows small groups like the Support Squad, Parish Council and others to use the dedicated facility with it's own access, without the need to heat the whole hall,  indeed the main hall can be used for larger events, simultainously with the meeting room if required.

We have an inspirational location and facilities which has led many on an artistic and creative journey of discovery.

Come and Enjoy!
